Creatures + Characters
Shared Purpose, Shared World, Shared Form
Overview:
In this assignment, you will design and sculpt a paired character and non-human creature who share a core purpose, live in a shared environment, and are posed together in contact to show their bond.
Your pair should feel like they belong together in both visual design and narrative mission—whether they’re digging, flying, healing, exploring, or smuggling rare mushrooms from deep forest ruins. The character and the creature must have a carried-over visual element, a unified palette, and appear physically interacting in a fully realized miniature environment.
Deliverables:

Required Design Elements in Your Model:

- Consider how the person embodies some of the sidekick’s traits
- One non-human creature/sidekick (animal, magical spirit, little robot, giant elemental, rideable mount, etc.)
- Consider the size of the creature, the reliance from person to creature, how they both achieve the shared function, etc
- Shared Core Verb – a single action that defines what they do together (dig, guard, rescue, sing, build, fly, explore, etc.)
- Carried-over feature – a shape, texture, or design element shared across both characters (e.g. bark skin and bark armor, spiral horns and swirly hair/headwear, glowing patches of bioluminescence and small worn lights, fish-scale patterns and scale mail/aquatic tattoos)
